Happy Halloween! 😀

If you celebrate, I hope you have an amazing day with more treats than tricks! I plan to watch Halloween movies, carve a pumpkin, and just spend the day hanging with my furbabies and the boyfriend. Let me know in the comments what you plan to do this Halloween! 🙂

I am not only here to wish you guys a happy Halloween, but also to do this really fun book tag! I seen this tag over on Josie’s blog over at Josie’s Book Corner and it looked like so much fun and decided that I had to do it too! For this tag you pick five books and for every two questions you use one of the books.

My Five Books:

image2 [36230]

I wanted to mix it up and chose different kinds of books and books that I really enjoyed this year.
This will be the order that I use them in. It’s totally random.

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend by Katie Finn
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling.

1. Open book 1 to a random page. Look at the first word on the page. If it’s less than 5 letters, you will go to college. If it’s more than 5 letters, you won’t go to college. – Shadow and Bone.

+ I randomly flipped to page 257 and the first word is “woods“. I guess I am going back to college!

2. Open book 1 to a random page. The first name you see. Think of that persons job, that will be your job. Note: Is that person stil in school? You will be a teacher. You don’t know that persons job? You will be unemployed. – Shadow and Bone.

+ I randomly flipped to page 121 and the first name I seen was “Genya“. Genya is a tailor that specializes in changing people’s appearances.

3. Open book 2 to a random page. The first name you see will be the person you will marry. Everything, Everything.

+ I randomly flipped to page 117 and the first name I seen was “Olly“. I am totally down to marry Olly. How can you not love Olly? Lots of jealous girls in my future. 😛

4. Open book 2 to a random page. The first name you see will be your best friend. Everything, Everything.

+ I randomly flipped to page 185 and the first name I seen was “Carla“. I love Carla, so having her as a best friend is perfect.

5. Open book 3 to a random page. Look at the second word on the page. Count how many letters that word has, remove 2 letters. That’s how many children you will have. – Broken Hearts.

+ I randomly flipped to page 133 and the second word on the page is “the“, so with taking away two letters I will only be having one child. I’m not a fan of kids (lol sorry), so if I had to have any then one is enough for me.

6. How many children did you have? Open book 3 as many times to see who your children will be. If you have no children, open the book once. The first name you will see, will be something of your choice. A couple of examples: neighbor, father in law etc. – Broken Hearts.

+ I randomly flipped to page 181 and the first name is “Sophie“. Sophie is a pretty cool character in this book, so definitely not a disappointment.

7. Book 4: Where does this book take place? This will be the place you will live. – Red Queen.

+ This book takes place in the Kingdom of Norta. It has lots of forests, so that’s always cool.

8. Open book 4 to a random place, the first name you see, does this person have a car, bike etc.? That will be your transportation in live. Note: teleporting, broom etc. is allowed. If your character had no means of transportation that you know of, you will be using public transportation. – Red Queen.

+ I randomly flipped to page 171 and the first name I seen is “Lucas“. He was a guard, but as for mode of transportation, I can’t really remember if he had any. Looks like public transportation for me, sigh.

9. Does this book 5 have any animals in it? Pick your favorite animal, that will be your pet. No animals in the book? You will have no pet. – Harry Potter.

+ Awwww, Hedwig! I will gladly take Hedwig as my pet. 😀

10. Open book 5 to a random page. The first name you see will be your enemy. – Harry Potter.

+ I randomly flipped to page 237 and the first name I seen was “Ron“. That’s really sad that Ron will be my enemy, I actually really like him!

image1 [36229]

A Little Summary:

I will be heading back to college and working part-time as a tailor changing the appearances of people who are not happy with the way that they look or just need a new look. I will be married to Olly and always hanging out with my bestie Carla. Good thing she’s older, because she’ll be able to help me with Sophie! We’ll live in Norta, but because it’s full of forests, the transportation will be a little bit hard to come by. Hedwig can send and deliver our mail if we need anything though as we constantly have to watch our back for Ron Weasley, that crazy redhead. 😛

This tag really reminded me of that game “M.A.S.H.” that I used to play in elementary/middle school with my childhood friends. That’s always fun! I am going to tag every single one of you, because this tag is so much fun and I want to see everyone’s bookish future! ❤

I am off to go get something to eat and wait for the boyfriend to get home. We have to go to the grocery store and grab something for dinner tonight. I have a fun little idea in my head that I seen on Pinterest, so we’re going to attempt to make that happen!

Thoughts||Cinder.

img_3588

Cinder by Marissa Meyer
4 OUT OF 5 STARS.

“While her sisters were given beautiful dresses and fine slippers, Cinderella had only a filthy smock and wooden shoes.”

Goodreads Description: Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl. Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

After wanting to read Cinder for two years, it finally happened! I actually read this book pretty quickly, because it was hard to put down! It was such an easy read and the way it was written made it so easy and fun to want to continue to see what happened next. There wasn’t a time where I wanted to put the book down and stop reading; I applaud Marissa Meyer for that! Her writing style was great!

I really enjoyed Cinder’s character and thought she was written perfectly. She was such a cool character and such a tough cookie at times too. I felt so bad for her and I despised her stepmother and stepsister Pearl. Any of the scenes that they were in really made me angry. I loved Prince Kai throughout the book, but I wasn’t sure how I felt about him at the end. I was really disappointed in him.

It was interesting reading this retelling with cyborgs and androids thrown into it. I’ve never read any books about cyborgs; at least not that I can think of. It was really cool and like I said before, a really fun read. I did have a problem with it and probably the only reason why I didn’t give this book a 5 out of 5. That problem is being that I guessed about Cinder waaaaaay before it was ever mentioned in the book. I wanted to be shocked and have that “OMG” moment, but I wasn’t and it didn’t happen. I seen it all coming and that sucked.

Overall, it was a great read and I am so glad that I finally picked it up! I know everyone loves this series, so I am interested in seeing what happens next and seeing why everyone is so in love with these books! If you are one of the last people on Earth that haven’t read this book (like I was), I definitely recommend it! Hard to put down, fun, easy to read! And CYBORGS!

“Vanity is a factor, but it is more a question of control. It is easier to trick others into perceiving you as beautiful if you can convince yourself you are beautiful. But mirrors have an uncanny way of telling the truth.”

ColbyJack demanding my attention and not wanting me to read. 😛 “HEY MOM, I’M CUTE, LOOK AT MEEEEE”.

Have you read Cinder (of course you have 😛)? If so, what did you think? If not, do you think you will?

I will most likely be binge reading the rest of the series in November as soon as I finish my current read. I know a lot of people are waiting on Winter and I don’t want to accidentally be spoiled! So I want to try to read them and Winter in November. I’ll be posting my October recap post sometime over the weekend, so be on the lookout for that! I did post my October book haul a few days ago and you can check that out over here.

I hope you have a great day!

WWW Wednesday #20.

img_3898

WWW Wednesday is a weekly MEME hosted by Taking on a World of Words. Simply answer the following questions. 🙂

 The three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

*Goodreads linked below.

Happy Wednesday!

The week seems to be going by pretty quickly! Here are the books in my life over the last week and coming week.

Image-3

Fablehaven by Brandon Mull
Slasher Girls & Monster Boys

My younger sister let me borrow Fablehaven two months ago, so I decided to finally read it now. I haven’t started it yet, but I’m going to start it today. It sounds like a fun read and I love the book cover so much. I have also been slowing pushing through Slasher Girls & Monster Boys. I honestly haven’t been reading it that much though.

Image-2

Cinder by Marissa Meyer

I just finished Cinder last night and it was a really good book, but I did have a little problem with it. I’ll have a review up in a day or two. I decided to binge read the series in November, so once I finish Fablehaven then it’ll be back to the Lunar Chronicles. And with that…

Image-1

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

I am starting Scarlet next and I’m excited to read it! I’ve been waiting way too long to read this series and now I can finally see what everyone is talking about.

Have you read any of these books? If so, what did you think? What are you currently reading, recently finished, reading next? Feel free to link me to your WWW Wednesday posts as well!

I posted my October book haul a couple days ago, so feel free to check it out if you’re interested in seeing the books I got this month; Book Haul||October.

I hope you have a great Wednesday! ❤

Book Haul||October.

octoberbookhaul

Is October really almost over!? It’s been a crazy month for me and even though I didn’t get most of the books that I really wanted to get this month, I was still able to get some good ones. I also got amazing deals on all of these books and really didn’t spend much money on them all. That’s a good thing, because this month has been so tough on me as far as money goes, so so tough. Anyway, I’ll get right into the books and also talk a little bit about them. The post will be divided into different sections of where I got the books from; stores, random, e-book, etc.

Amazon||Target||Book Outlet:

IMG_3652IMG_3653

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness
The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan
Diary of a Haunting by M. Verano
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga
Falling into Place by Amy Zhang

Carry On and The Rest of Us Just Live Here I got for sale on pre-order and they were $8-10. The Hunger Games (foil edition) I got for $2 on Amazon! I don’t own a physical copy of the Hunger Games, so I was excited to get one for $2. I still want the hardcover though, because my Catching Fire and Mockingjay are hardcover. The Sword of Summer I refused to leave Target without it and technically my older sister bought it for me; she said I didn’t have to pay her back! Diary of a Haunting, I saw at Target and wanted it for my October TBR which I never got to, sadly. I actually bought it at the very end of September, but since I had already done my September book haul, I decided to save it for this one. Falling into Place and My Heart and Other Black Holes were on Book Outlet, so those were of course cheap; I think it was $15 including shipping for them both.

Awesome Carry On swag that I got for pre-ordering! 🙂
Tattoos, balloon, pin, I’m assuming those packets are wipes
And a book cover that you can color yourself and put on your book!

Things Not Seen by Andrew Clements
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Life of Pi by Yann Martel
Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton
The Sweetest Spell by Suzanne Selfors
The Giver by Lois Lowry
The Wednesday Wars by Gary D. Schmidt

These are the ones that I got from Goodwill for $0.99-1.99 each, except Jurassic Park I was given. I tried to listen to the Life of Pi audiobook, but I just could not do it. I did not like the narrator at all, but I seen the book and decided to give it another chance. I’ve never read Pride and Prejudice and one day I want to, so I grabbed it. I had The Wednesday Wars on my TBR, so when I seen it I decided to get it. I’ve never heard of Things Not Seen and The Sweetest Spell before, but they sounded good so I picked those up as well. The Giver I own in e-book, but I decided to pick it up from Goodwill when I seen it. I love that series so much!

A Madness So Discreet by Mindy McGinnis
The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto by Mitch Albom (ARC)
Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin (ARC)

Wolf by Wolf is an ARC that I won from the Novl, which I am excited to read and excited that I won it! I also won The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto ARC on Goodreads, which I am excited about. Mitch Albom is one of my favorite authors and I was so excited about this book, so winning it was amazing! A Madness So Discreet I received in my October OwlCrate! I added it to my TBR this week, so getting it in my OwlCrate was awesome!

My October OwlCrate contents:
The theme for October was “spooky”.
FBBF057D-2455-4905-A7E9-24C0CCB6CBEE
A Madness So Discreet book, poster, and letter from the author.
Halloween themed bookmarks from Craftedvan (witch & skeleton)
Edgar Allan Poe zipper pouch from Out of Print Clothing
Scented beads & bookmark from Adventure Scents
Sugar skull erasers

I am really excited about this month’s OwlCrate and everything inside! I have to say my favorite things are the Craftedvan bookmarks (which I zoomed, so you can see them better) and the Edgar Allan Poe pouch! Obviously the book as well. It was nice that I wasn’t spoiled this time! I tried to stay away from everything OwlCrate this month on social media, so I didn’t accidentally see what was inside again! Next month’s theme is Myths & Legends!

Kindle E-Books:

You know I am all about those Amazon e-book deals and I can rarely ever pass one up! So of course I have tons to share with you. I got these all when they were on sale for $0.99-2.99! I am super stoked about all of them, because they are books that I really want to read! I did get Ted Saves the World for free though; thanks to Ben’s free book Friday videos on booktube! He always shows really awesome books that are free that week, month, etc. Onto the e-books!

Ted Saves the World by Bryan Cohen
Crane by Stacey Rourke
Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge
Jackaby by William Ritter
In the After by Demitria Lunetta

I’ve been really wanting to read all of these e-books, so getting them on sale was a big plus! Even though it looks like a lot, I really didn’t spend that much money. It’s all about the deals! I love getting so many things and not spending a whole lot to get them. That is always amazing, so that is why it’s awesome checking out what kind of deals are going on! There were a TON of new releases that came out this month that I sadly wasn’t able to buy that I really wanted, but I am happy with all of the ones I was able to get. I wish I had all the money in the world for books, sadly that is not the case.

Have you read any of these books? What new books did you get this month? Let me know and link me to your posts down below! 🙂 I am off to work and I hope that you had a great weekend and have a great day today! ❤

Thoughts||Asylum.

Asylum by Madeleine Roux
4 OUT OF 5 STARS.

“No great mind has ever existed without a touch of madness.”

Goodreads Description: For sixteen-year-old Dan Crawford, New Hampshire College Prep is more than a summer program—it’s a lifeline. An outcast at his high school, Dan is excited to finally make some friends in his last summer before college. But when he arrives at the program, Dan learns that his dorm for the summer used to be a sanatorium, more commonly known as an asylum. And not just any asylum—a last resort for the criminally insane. As Dan and his new friends, Abby and Jordan, explore the hidden recesses of their creepy summer home, they soon discover it’s no coincidence that the three of them ended up here. Because the asylum holds the key to a terrifying past. And there are some secrets that refuse to stay buried.

I recently finished Asylum and it definitely spooked me! More on that later at the end of this post! Stay tuned!

Asylum is a pretty quick read, because it’s only a little over 300 pages and some of those pages have pictures and the start of a chapter takes up a whole page as well. The chapters are also short, so it’s easy to just keep reading and reading. For it being a short book, it was definitely VERY enjoyable and spooky! I was looking for the spook factor, because HELLO…it’s October, it’s almost Halloween. I WANT TO BE SCARED!

I enjoyed this book so much and I loved the creepy pictures! Although, a lot of the pictures weren’t that “scary”,  there were a few super creepy ones. I think they tied in well with the story though and it was cool reading it and seeing a picture to kind of get a better idea of what was going on. There were tons of weird things going on and trying to figure out what was happening was fun! It was creepy and crazy what was being done to the people in the asylum long ago.

IMG_3256

I really enjoyed the characters in the book and it was interesting how they all fit into the entire story. I don’t want to give too much away, but it was really cool. Dan and Jordan were really great characters, especially Jordan! He’s definitely my favorite of the group. Then there is Abby and while I do like her, she kind of annoyed me a little bit. I didn’t like the bit of insta-love that Dan had for Abby, but everything else and their friendship was good to read.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book! There wasn’t too much I didn’t like besides how some of the characters acted. I love the way that it was written and how everything came together in the book. Everything was a puzzle and it just all fit together in the end. There are lots of twists throughout, which makes it even better! It’s definitely a spooky read. I can’t wait to read the second book!

For those of you that are off at college and stay in dorms, you might want to make sure it wasn’t once an insane asylum! 😛

“A truly great life. That is what humanity deserves. Not an average life, not even a normal one—a life in which genius is not an anomaly but an expectation.”

Have you read Asylum? If so, what did you think? If not, do you think you’ll be picking it up?

SO, do you guys believe in ghost stories? The butterfly that started it all…

IMG_3375

The boyfriend and I were watching TV Sunday night and our cat jumped onto the window sill because he seen something outside. We both looked at the window and this monarch butterfly landed on our bedroom window. I thought it was so strange, because I’ve never seen a butterfly at night and it stayed so still. It did flutter its wings some, but did not leave that spot for a few minutes. So strange. Eventually, it went away and I decided to read my book (Asylum) around 10PM. Everything was cool, I was enjoying it and happy I was actually getting a lot read (I finished over 140 pages that night).

And then…as I am reading and a pretty creepy part is happening in the book and the lights in my house flicker off really quick. So it was pitch black in the house for a few seconds. Of course that scared me almost to death, because Asylum was getting creepy. I read a little longer until about midnight and then decided to stop reading. I wanted to watch a funny TV show before sleep, so I wasn’t creeped out when going to sleep. The boyfriend shut the outside hurricane shutters on our bedroom window (we don’t currently have a curtain/shade, so at night we close the outside shutters) and he went to sleep. I stayed up watching TV.

I was still pretty creeped out, but decided to attempt to go to sleep at 1AM. I woke up at 2AM and the outside shutters were OPENED! OPENED!!! At that point I was beyond freaked out. I woke the boyfriend up, he didn’t care (LOL) and said it was nothing. I told him I was going to go sleep on the couch, because I didn’t want to look out the window and see any faces staring back at me. I laid on the couch for 45 minutes still scared to death and texting my sister asking her if she opened it as a joke. She said no. It was strange, because they are SO LOUD when opening and closing and Dax (my dog) always barks when he hears them and that didn’t happen and we didn’t hear it to wake us up.

After 45 minutes I decided to wake the boyfriend up to go close the shutters. I wasn’t about to go outside, LMAO! So I still can’t sleep, so I decided to Google what butterflies meant and it was coming up as they can mean “hope” and….loved one/someone that has died having a message for you. THANK YOU, GOOGLE, FOR FREAKING ME OUT MORE! So it’s after 3AM and I text my mom to see if she was alive (LMAO) and she said she was okay, but that she also been up since 2AM with weird stuff happening to her! So I just did not sleep much at all that night.

Yes, Asylum definitely made me 100% more terrified than I probably would have been and actually probably the only reason why I questioned anything that happened to begin with. So, THANK YOU, ASYLUM and Madeleine for making me scared. I am not going to deny that this other crazy stuff didn’t happen though, it did, Asylum just made it worse in my head! Also, the next day at work, I get a text from the boyfriend saying that a canary (bird) randomly landed on our window. I don’t believe in stuff like this, but maybe it’s good luck because I know we have been having the crappiest luck of all-time this year.

Well there you have it! My thoughts on Asylum and my “ghost” story. 😛 Feel free to check out some of my other posts linked below!

Mini Review||Don’t Stay Up Late, Doll Bones, Stolen Children.

dontstayupdatedollbonesstolenchildren

Don’t Stay Up Late by R.L. Stine
Doll Bones by Holly Black
Stolen Children by Peg Kehret

Don’t Stay Up Late – 3 OUT OF 5 STARS.
Ever since a car accident killed her father and put Lisa and her mother into the hospital, Lisa can’t think straight. She’s plagued by nightmares and hallucinations that force her to relive the accident over and over again in vivid detail. When Lisa finds out that a neighbor is looking for a babysitter for her young son, she takes the job immediately, eager to keep busy and shake these disturbing images from her head. But what promised to be an easy gig turns terrifying when Lisa begins to question exactly who — or what — she is babysitting.

Yay for R.L. Stine books and new Fear Street books! This is the second book in the relaunch of the Fear Street series. The characters were a little weird for me, but the story was really interesting. It was pretty creepy too, which is always expected from R.L. Stine. The book didn’t blow me away, but I did enjoy it a lot and I am super stoked about the relaunch of Fear Street and new books! I’m currently listening to the audiobook for the first book in the Fear Street relaunch; Party Games. I know I did it backwards, but that’s what happens when you get audiobooks from the library. It’s okay though, because the stories themselves don’t really go together. I’m sure you all know how R.L. Stine books/series are. Anyway, I really enjoyed this book!

Doll Bones – 3 OUT OF 5 STARS.
Zach, Poppy and Alice have been friends for ever. They love playing with their action figure toys, imagining a magical world of adventure and heroism. But disaster strikes when, without warning, Zach’s father throws out all his toys, declaring he’s too old for them. Zach is furious, confused and embarrassed, deciding that the only way to cope is to stop playing . . . and stop being friends with Poppy and Alice. But one night the girls pay Zach a visit, and tell him about a series of mysterious occurrences. Poppy swears that she is now being haunted by a china doll – who claims that it is made from the ground-up bones of a murdered girl. They must return the doll to where the girl lived, and bury it. Otherwise the three children will be cursed for eternity . . .

Doll Bones was an okay read for me. I loved the whole concept, but it was a little boring for me at times. Some of the characters were a little annoying as well. Zach, Poppy, and Alice liked to play with their toys and set up a world and act it out with their toys. They also liked to keep it a secret, because technically they were “too old” for pretending with toys. It was interesting how they had to return this doll to where the haunted doll lived and when they stopped places, people would acknowledge a forth person. That was pretty creepy that people saw this doll as a real person (or that’s the vibe I got from it when random people acknowledged there being another person in the group). It wasn’t a horrible book though and definitely had its interesting moments. I think it’s more for the younger crowd, so that is most likely why I wasn’t blown away by it. Overall, it was a fun read and I enjoyed it for the most part.

Stolen Children – 4 OUT OF 5 STARS.
Amy learned a lot in her babysitting course, but not what to do if two thugs show up, intent on kidnapping. Armed with misinformation and a weapon, the men take Amy and little Kendra to a remote cabin in the woods. There they make videos of the girls and mail them to Kendra’s wealthy parents in an effort to get ransom money. After several of her escape attempts fail, Amy is forced to make one last, desperate move. Award winner Peg Kehret crafts a suspenseful thriller with a spunky heroine who uses her wits to save herself and the toddler.

I enjoyed Stolen Children so much! It’s a very quick audiobook (I believe it was like 2-3 hours), but it was so so good! I loved Amy’s character and for being a kid, she was so smart. She outsmarted these kidnappers when her and Kendra were forced to make these videos to send to Kendra’s mom. She was also such a sweet character making it a mission to keep Kendra safe and taking care of her while they were kidnapped. She vowed Kendra’s safety when she was asked to babysit and she kept to that and kept Kendra safe even when kidnapped. Overall, this was a really great read and I enjoyed it so much. It’s kind of spooky, because this could happen to anyone in real life and I’m sure does all the time and we don’t ever hear about it. I loved how Amy used her wits to outsmart these kidnappers in the hopes of being saved.

I decided to do quick little mini review for these books, so they don’t feel left out! They were pretty short books. Overall, they were enjoyable though. I was trying to listen to more “spooky/halloweenish” audiobooks as well as the ones that I am reading myself this month.

Have you read any of these books? If so, what did you think? Have you been reading or listening to spooky type books this month?

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

10 Wishes I’d Ask The Book Genie To Grant Me (a new book from a certain author, a reading superpower, a library that is your absolutely #librarygoals, a character to come to life, to met a certain author etc. etc.) YOU DREAM IT AND THE BOOKISH GENIE CAN DO IT.

Hi! 🙂

Where is this bookish Genie and how can I find him? I know there must be a mountain of books with a magic lamp buried at the bottom of it somewhere! Here are some of my wishes:

More bookshelf space. I am sure everyone knows the struggle of running out of space on your bookshelf (or shelves). Everything becomes cluttered and books are everywhere. I’ve already had to buy two more bookshelves this year and I actually need a fourth one now.

No more reading slumps. I would wish for never being in a reading slump again. They are the worst, especially when you’re dying to read but you just can’t. Your mind wanders, you get distracted easily. You end up dreading even looking at books and words.

housedistracted

Cheaper hardcovers. I love hardcover books so much, but they are so much more expensive and sometimes I just cannot justify buying a hardcover when I can get more than one paperback for cheaper or the same price. Beautiful hardcovers need to be at a beautiful lower price.

Floor to ceiling library. It’s my dream to have a floor to ceiling library of books in my home. Of course one equipped with a ladder! Think of all the books I can have…and all the fun I can have flying around the room on the ladder. You know that’s what will really happen.

Bellelibrary

Never have to wait for book releases. We all know how starting it is having to wait a year (sometimes longer) for a book in a series to come out or a new book from a favorite author. I would love if it was just instant. Waiting for a new book is never fun, especially when I am absolutely in love with a series or author.

Read faster. I swear I am a slow reader. I always see everyone flying through so many books a week and I’m still on my first one. Sigh. I would love to read faster, get more books read, and at the same time still be able to fully enjoy them.

catreadfast

Meet Veronica Roth. I love the Divergent series so much and I would love to meet Veronica Roth. She seems like she would be super cool and fun to meet. I can’t wait for new stuff from her. I think I read she has a new book in the works!

Go to Hogwarts. I recently finally read and finished the Harry Potter series for the first time. I enjoyed the books so much and I would love to catch the Hogwarts Express to go off on a magical adventure at Hogwarts. Until that happens, at least I still have the last five movies to still see.

hogwarts express

Spend the day with Simon. One of my favorite books I read this year is Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. Simon is such an amazing character and one of my new favorites. I would love to hangout with Simon and eat mounts of Oreos.

Teleportation powers to get to book events. There are so many awesome book events that go on and I’m always so jealous that I can never attend! I would love to just be able to nod my head and blink my eyes and be there. You know, I Dream Of Jeanie style. Come on book Genie, make this happen!

Life||Books & Pumpkins.

Hey!

I have a little random update for you and some pictures! Pictures are always fun! I’ve had a pretty good weekend and I am sad to see it go. This is an update about my weekend and a couple bookish related talk.

I was looking at all my books last night (I’m sure I’m not the only one that stares at their books with happiness and maybe even a little overwhelming feeling that you have so many to read 😛 ) and then I picked up a few off the shelf that I recently bought and can’t wait to read (you know, to admire more closely). I turned to the boyfriend and told him that the reason why I never read the books I’m so excited to read is because I know once I read it then it’ll be a long time before I pick it up again. It was actually sad to think about, to be honest. I rarely reread books, because there are just so many books that I want to read.

Feel free to ignore the crappiness of these three pictures. 😛
IMG_3251

I decided that is my excuse for not reading all the books that I buy and never read. Let’s see, example: Emmy & Oliver was one of my most anticipated book releases this year and I bought it when it was released. It’s still sitting on my bookshelf unread! I want to start using my book jar more, so I can finally get to reading all these books. I also need to use it properly! I had a rule that I would allow myself to draw two books and I have to read one of them. WELL…when I do attempt to use my book jar, I draw a book, decide I don’t want that one, draw again. And that goes on and on and on until finally I pull one that I want to read. LOL! I think I’ll update my book jar sometime next week with all the new books I got and haven’t added yet; then start using it again, the RIGHT way! Haha.

IMG_3237IMG_3238

So I am currently reading Asylum, which is an interesting read so far. I’m a little over 100 pages in and I was hoping to finish it this weekend. I didn’t finish it, sigh. I probably could finish it today, because I only have 200 pages left, but this dang reading slump is killing me. WHY!?! I feel like I am slacking on my blog, because I’m not reading as much as want to read. I really want to get some reviews out there for you guys!

IMG_2856

On Friday after work, my mom, aunt, and I went out to eat. We went to this place called Moonlite Diner and it was so good! They have so many food choices and dessert choices. They had cheese fries and I LOVE cheese fries so much. I could probably eat cheese fries forever.

sliders & cheese fries.
IMG_2862

I didn’t get any dessert, because I was so full from all the food. My mom and aunt got ice cream sundaes though and those things were HUGE! It looked so good. I am definitely going back soon and get one, because they looked so amazing and I wish I had taken a picture to prove how amazing they looked.

Yesterday (Saturday) I went to a pumpkin patch/Fall harvest festival with my cousin, her husband, and their son. It was a pretty good time and I’m going to go again next weekend with my family. They had some pretty huge pumpkins for so cheap! I was able to pick up a pumpkin and I plan to get another one next weekend.

My pumpkin and it was only $8 and it’s pretty big!
IMG_3212

I love pumpkins so much, lol. Lauren (author of Shattered Blue – READ THIS BOOK – only $3.99 on Kindle) and I have been obsessing over pumpkins all week together. We decided that she should come to Florida, so we can have a pumpkin extravaganza and I should go to Kauai, so I can take amazing sunset pictures.

PUMPKINS.
IMG_2931IMG_2929

My family and I went out last night to the bar down the street and they had a bunch of pumpkins and squash decorating the tables and they also were giving away pumpkin carvers that you could take home. My older sister and I decided to carve a squash, lmao. We probably shouldn’t have done that to their decorations, but I can always buy them a new one, lol. They didn’t seem to care though when they did finally see it.

SQUASH-O’-LANTERN.
IMG_3226

We later found out that it wasn’t a squash though and that it was a gourd. My mom said it was a squash and you always believe your mom right? 😛 Anyway, it was fun and it turned out cute. lol.

I also went to the Goodwill by my house and found four books. It’s been so hard not having money to buy all the books I really want. I’m glad I was able to find four books at Goodwill though and it only cost me $6. There’s been a lot of things I wanted to do this month, but haven’t been able to and can’t. Being adult is so hard sometimes! I miss when I was a kid and never had to pay bills.

I am excited that the boyfriend and I are going to Cape Coral for Thanksgiving though! I think we’re going to go the day before Thanksgiving and stay overnight. We haven’t been able to really get over there as much as we want to. It’s about 2.5-3 hours away, but our work schedules are so different and he has to ask for days off in advance. If he had weekends off then it would be amazing, because then we can do so many other things. We never have a full day off together unless he requests a day off. I work his days off, he works my days off.

the boys with our pumpkin!

IMG_2945IMG_2946

That’s basically my weekend! Today I am not really going to be doing anything. I may attempt to at least knock out another 100 pages in Asylum and then probably watch Goblet of Fire. I have to order it On Demand though. ABC Family is doing a Harry Potter movie marathon all weekend, so I’m recording 5-8 so I’ll have them and not have to pay to watch them. They are playing all except Goblet of Fire. I read online that ABC Family doesn’t always have the rights to Goblet of Fire when another bigger TV network is playing it and HBO happens to be playing Goblet of Fire this weekend, which is why ABC Family isn’t playing it. Sigh. That’s so lame!! I don’t have HBO, so that’s why it’s even lamer, lol.

Anyway, I am rambling! I hope you are having a great weekend!

Tag||Autumn Book.

autumnbooktag

Hi! 🙂

I was tagged three times by three awesome blogger friends to do the Autumn Book Tag! I love Autumn even if we don’t get to enjoy all of the Autumn changes here in Florida.

Thank you so much for tagging me:
Deanna @ A Novel Glimpse
Calliope @ Calliope The Book Goddess
Giselle @ Hardwork Boulevard

What is your favorite thing about Autumn?
+ We don’t have a normal Autumn in Florida as far as weather goes, but I love when all the cute Fall decorations come out and seeing pumpkins and an excuse to eat pumpkin food. lol. I got these amazing pumpkin cheesecake cookies the other day. Tomorrow I am going to a pumpkin patch and Fall harvest festival with my cousin and I’m excited!

3e5c81bd77c2d06596ce8d5cc84a4774d8010a6541d6cd78e6dd843c2e71265c

What book reminds you of your school days?
+ Honestly, I really have no idea. I don’t remember too much reading going on in my childhood. I wasn’t a big fan of reading when I was a kid. I do remember in one of my classes that our teach used to read to us a chapter a week from Sideways Stories from Wayside School and Wayside School is Falling Down.

563859563908

What book cover reminds you of Autumn?
+ Ahhh, totally drawing a blank with this one. I guess I’ll go with The Wrong Side of Right, because the colors kind of make me think Autumn. I haven’t read this book, but I have been really wanting to!

17235448

What is your favorite horror or Halloween story?
+ I’m gonna go with my favorite book and say Psycho by Robert Bloch. I love that book so much and it’s definitely a classic horror read. I watched half of the movie last year, but I plan to rewatch it again this year, so I can finish it. I’m sure it’ll become one of my favorite movies as well.

156427

What is your favorite horror or Halloween film?
+ The Grudge was a really good horror movie and always scared me and gave me nightmares, haha. It was really good though and it’s been so long since I’ve seen it.

the-grudge-poster-big

What Fall book release are you most looking forward to?
+ Carry On by Rainbowl Rowell. It was just released and I can’t wait to read it! I’ll possibly be reading it in November.

23734628

What Autumn movie release are you most anticipating?
+ Of course I’ll have to go with Mockingjay Part Two. I am so stoked to see the final movie and to see how it all plays out. I’ll probably marathon the movies before going to see the last one in theaters.

mockingjay2

What are three books you plan to read this Autumn?
+ Vengeance Road, Carry On, and The Rest of Us Just Live Here. I am most excited about reading these, so hopefully I get to them this Autumn.

I had a lot of fun with this tag, so I tag everyone to do it! Link me to your posts, so I can check out your answers if you choose to do it! 🙂 Sorry there isn’t a Friday Finds post this week. I actually didn’t really add books to my TBR this week. I’m still in this reading slump and books have been kind of the last thing on my mind, sigh. I’m still kind of in this little rut with things going on in my life, but hopefully everything will work out soon. I hope you guys have an awesome day! Bye! ❤

WWW Wednesday #19.

144478660077824

WWW Wednesday is a weekly MEME hosted by Taking on a World of Words. Simply answer the following questions. 🙂

 The three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

*Goodreads linked below.

Hey! 🙂

I’ve been in kind of a reading slump, which I have mentioned a couple other times. So I haven’t been reading as much or as fast as I would like. I think I may be getting out of it though, so that’s good! Let’s hope I can finish off October strong and knock out some more of my Halloweenie TBR!

CURRENTLY READING:

1359772819364719

Asylum by Madeleine Roux
Slasher Girls & Monster Boys by Various Authors

I am currently reading Asylum and so far it’s interesting. I’m not really that far into it though. Hopefully I’ll finish it before the end of the week. It sounds promising and there are some creepy pictures in it too! I read the first two short stories in Slasher Girls & Monster Boys, which were really cool. The first one was extra creepy, because it’s something that can really happen in real life! The second one was a creepy Alice in Wonderland inspired one, which I loved! I can’t wait to get to the Leigh Bardugo story! I am one away from getting there, so I may read the next one soon. I’ve been reading one of the short stories in-between each of the books I have been reading this month. Slasher Girls will probably be a book that I don’t finish right away, because I want to switch between that book and other books I hope to read this month. I do want to finish it in October though.

RECENTLY FINISHED:

1301851424396858

The Hallowed Ones by Laura Bickle
The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich

I just finished The Hallowed Ones yesterday and that book was SO SO good! I loved the whole idea behind it and I loved how it played out. I recently wrote a review on it and you can check that out here; The Hallowed Ones. I also recently finished The Dead House, but I didn’t really like it and thought that it wasn’t as creepy as everyone was saying it was. I fell for all the hype and sadly I was let down BIG time. You can check out my review for this one here; The Dead House.

READING NEXT:

2526392724120519

The Girl from the Well by Rin Chupeco
Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs

I’m not entirely sure which one that I want to read next, but I am leaning more toward The Girl from the Well only because it’s an e-book I checked out from the library and I only have it for about 13 more days and it’s also pretty short compared to Library of Souls. I do hope to get to Library of Souls this month though. My older sister is currently reading my e-book of it and I don’t want to read it at the same time and accidentally lose her page or accidentally take my Kindle to her page and see spoilers! I’m excited about them both though!

I am currently using my Mary (from Hocus Pocus) bookmark as I read Asylum. Isn’t she the cutest?
“It reeks of children!”

Thoughts||The Hallowed Ones.

13018514

The Hallowed Ones by Laura Brickle
4.5 OUT OF 5 STARS.

Goodreads Description: Katie is on the verge of her Rumspringa, the time in Amish life when teenagers can get a taste of the real world. But the real world comes to her in this dystopian tale with a philosophical bent. Rumors of massive unrest on the “Outside” abound. Something murderous is out there. Amish elders make a rule: No one goes outside, and no outsiders come in. But when Katie finds a gravely injured young man, she can’t leave him to die. She smuggles him into her family’s barn—at what cost to her community? The suspense of this vividly told, truly horrific thriller will keep the pages turning.

It’s always interesting reading about the Amish, but reading an Amish horror story just seemed so much cooler! This book was fantastic! At the beginning I wasn’t really sure how I felt about it and not too much was going on at first. It was interesting though, even when I wasn’t sure how to feel. It started off a little slow, but it eventually started to pick up and ended up being so good.

Katie and Elijah are excited about leaving their homes for Rumspringa, where they get to taste life outside of the Amish to determine if they want to join the church and stay apart of the Amish. They never get the chance, because something happens on the outside and they are forced to stay where they are. No one knows what is going on and they choose to ignore it for the most part. Katie breaks the rule of “no one gets outside, and no outsiders come in” when she brings in an injured outsider and then leaves to get supplies from the near outsider town. When she goes to town, she discovers what is really happening on the outside.

Someone lets in the evil in their Amish community and everything just goes crazy! Elders and the Bishop refused to believe what was going on and refused to do anything about it. They wanted life to go on like nothing was happening. They wanted to trust in God that they would all be saved no matter what the cost of ignoring was doing. It was so frustrating every time something would happen and the Bishop did nothing about it. I wanted to shake him and knock sense into him and all the other Elders!

I loved Katie’s character and thought she was so smart and definitely a strong person. She had to deal with so much and she was the outsider in her Amish community. She questioned the Elders and the Bishop a lot before doing what she was told. She tried so hard to make everyone believe and also tried so hard to protect her family and friends. There is one pretty gruesome part of the book that the Bishop and Elders made her do, but I thought she handled it well for what it was.

The book had a few twists, which were exciting and made it even better! It’s a pretty quick read; only a little over 300 pages. Honestly I probably would of had it finished quicker had I not been in this little reading slump. I loved the way Laura writes and how she described what was going on and what was causing all the havoc and destroyed the outside world. There were some pretty gory stuff, but that’s always fun! 😛 She went into great detail about things and it was so easy to visualize things even the not so great (gory) parts.

Overall, I thought this book was great! It did start off a little slow, but everything going on makes up for the slow start. I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait to get my hands on the second book!

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think? Do you think you’ll be adding The Hallowed Ones to your TBR?

  • Answer the questions I have below.
  • Nominate between 5-10 book bloggers who you think also deserve this award.
  • Come up with your own 5 questions for your nominees.

Hey!

I was nominated by Giselle @ Hardwork Boulevard for the Book Fangirling Blog Award! Thank you, Giselle! Everyone go check out her blog! She’s awesome and I love her posts and reviews so much!

Below are the five questions that Giselle asked me:

1. What book did everyone like and you hated?

I am going to go with We Were Liars on this one. So many people loved it so much, but I just did not like it at all. It was too boring, too much of nothing going on, and the big reveal of what happened was not worth everything else in the book.

161433472. Book/s that put you in a ridiculous reading slump.

So I am currently in a reading slump and I am not happy about it! I was so excited for my Halloween TBR and now that I am in this reading slump, I am barely getting any reading done. The book that has done this to me is The Dead House. That book was just not good and was way too boring. It’s also a book that everyone seems to love, but I just did not like it. Now I’m in this reading slump and have no desire to really sit down and get into a book. Sigh. I am hoping I can at least try to get a few more books in my Halloween TBR read though. You can check out my review over here.

24396858

3. Name a book you wish more people knew about.

I really wish more people were talking and reading the Razorland series. I loved that series so much, but I don’t think many people have read it or are really talking about it. At least not from what I see myself. It was such a great series.

71373271019306210596724

4. Name a book/s you wish they’d turn into a movie.

I would love to see the Jasper Dent series turned into movies. It was such an amazing series; as I’m sure you guys have seen me write about a million times. I would love to see how it plays out on a movie screen.

IMG_02431579083318050728

5. Favorite booktuber/s?

Some of the booktubers that I watch are Ben from Benjaminoftomes, Sasha from abookutopia, Caz from Little Book Owl, and Regan from PeruseProject.

I really loved Giselle’s questions, so I’m going to “steal” them and have you answer those as well!
1. What book did everyone like and you hated?
2. Book/s that put you in a ridiculous reading slump.
3. Name a book you wish more people knew about
4. Name a book/s you wish they’d turn into a movie.
5. Favorite booktuber/s?

Friday Finds #33.

fridayfinds

FRIDAY FINDS showcases the books you ‘found’ and added to your To Be Read (TBR) list… whether you found them online, or in a bookstore, or in the library — wherever! (they aren’t necessarily books you purchased). Hosted by A Daily Rhythm*All linked to Goodreads*

Happy Friday! 🙂

Over the last couple months I have been really picky about what I am adding to my TBR. My Goodreads “to-read” shelf was getting out of control and it still kind of is. I ended up making a new TBR shelf a couple months ago to kind of control it a little better. Therefore, I now have my main TBR shelf of the books that I know for sure I want to read and then the other shelf of the books that sound good and I may or may not read. It kind of helps, but I still need to figure out a better way to organize it all, haha.

Anyway, I am rambling! Onto the books I added to my TBR this week. You can see more of my TBR list over on my Goodreads account over here and feel free to add me as a friend!

26595315259166502327163723365048

The Truth by Jeffry W. Johnston
Saved by the Bell by Joelle Sellner
The Nest by Kenneth Oppel
First Year by Rachel E. Carter

11958033187486531151622121945590

Ten by Gretchen McNeil
Daughters Unto Devils by Amy Lukavics
The Scorpion Rules by Erin Bow
Underwater by Marisa Reichardt

After going a few weeks without really adding to any of my TBR shelves, it was nice finally adding something new! I’ve mostly just been focusing on reading what I have and not looking too hard for more books to read like I have been. My main problem now is that I buy way more than I actually read, so I think if I don’t look for new books CONSTANTLY, then I might not buy as many either.

I’ve been wanting to try out comics/graphic novels and I recently found out there are Supernatural (the TV show) and Bob’s Burgers (the TV show) comics/graphic novels and I was excited to see a Saved by the Bell one! I think I may try them out soon! The boyfriend even said he would be down to read some comics and graphic novels with me and he hates reading. 😛 All of these other books I added sound like they’ll be really good and interesting as well.

Have you added any new books to your TBR? Have you read any of the ones that I added? Let me know! 🙂

I am making slow progress on my Halloweenie TBR, which is sad. I was just stuck on my last read, because it was just so boring for me! I dreaded reading it a lot of the time and just barely read anything because of that. Sigh. Hopefully I can catch up with my Halloween TBR over the weekend and get lots of reading done! I was able to finish a few audiobooks this week though and working on mini reviews for those that I may post next week. My reviews are slacking over the last couple months and so has my blogging. So much going on in my life last month and this month, to be honest and reading/blogging has kind of been on the back burner a little bit. Hopefully everything gets back to normal soon though!

Anyway, I better get to work! Feel free to check out some of my recent posts linked below!

Thoughts||The Dead House.

IMG_2549

The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich
2.5-3 OUT OF 5 STARS.

“Isn’t it funny how memories are just colors, shades, and impressions?”

Goodreads Description: Three students: dead. Carly Johnson: vanished without a trace. Two decades have passed since an inferno swept through Elmbridge High, claiming the lives of three teenagers and causing one student, Carly Johnson, to disappear. The main suspect: Kaitlyn, “the girl of nowhere.” Kaitlyn’s diary, discovered in the ruins of Elmbridge High, reveals the thoughts of a disturbed mind. Its charred pages tell a sinister version of events that took place that tragic night, and the girl of nowhere is caught in the center of it all. But many claim Kaitlyn doesn’t exist, and in a way, she doesn’t – because she is the alter ego of Carly Johnson. Carly gets the day. Kaitlyn has the night. It’s during the night that a mystery surrounding the Dead House unravels and a dark, twisted magic ruins the lives of each student that dares touch it.

I was so excited to read this book and I bought it as soon as it was released. Everyone was saying how amazing and creepy it was and, well, it wasn’t. I had a hard time settling on a rating for this book as you can see above. I liked the concept of it, but I found it to be really boring the majority of the time.

I did like the way that it was written though and if you are really loving this book, you can easily fly through it because a lot of the pages don’t have a full page of text. It was just so hard for me to get into, because I honestly thought it was going to be creepier than it really was. Everything leading up to the “incident” wasn’t that great and it wasn’t worth it in the end. The way I feel about this book is exactly how I felt about We Were Liars and it kind of made me think about We Were Liars as I was reading it.

The big “shocker” wasn’t that spectacular and everything leading up to the big reveal of what happened wasn’t worth the ending at all. I also didn’t connect with any of the characters and just did not like any of them. I was so disappointed with this book and I went into it with such high expectations, because of all the hype! It fell flat for me, very flat. Sigh. I’m not really sure what else to say about this book, to be honest. So I apologize if this isn’t that great.

IMG_2413

I am so off track on my Halloween TBR, because it has taken me so long to read The Dead House. I should have been able to finish this book in three days, but it has taken me about six days! It was so hard to want to pick it up and continue it, because I wasn’t enjoying it. I knew I probably should have stopped it, but it did leave me curious enough to want to see what happened. I was expecting so much more from it. Oh well, they all can’t be winners, I suppose!

If you decide to read this book, I do hope you enjoy it more than I did! I am finally onto my next “Halloweenie” TBR book and I am hoping that I enjoy the next book on my list better! I am also hoping I can get a good amount of reading done this weekend to make up for taking so much time away from my TBR with this one.

Feel free to check out some of my other posts from this week linked below!

Life||Bookish & Non-Bookish.

 img_2435

Hey! 🙂

I am going to do a random update and share pictures! I am at a loss of what kind of post to do right now, so here’s an update about things going on in my life and other little random things; bookish and non-bookish.

television

I am so stoked that some of my favorite shows are back! I love TV as much as I love books and I have TONS of favorite TV shows.

Doctor Who.
So far I am really loving this new season. I am so happy with Peter Capaldi as the Doctor and even more this season. He’s definitely one of my favorites! This season already has me teary eyed and “OMG” and its only been three episodes! THE FEELS this show gives you is insane.

Once Upon a Time.
I am glad OUAT is back! It seems like this season will be pretty interesting with Emma being the Dark One now. I’ve only watched the first episode in the season, so I’m one episode behind. I am kind of annoyed about every new season being where everyone loses their memories though.

Sleepy Hallow.
Yesssssss! I am so so so excited that Sleepy Hallow is back! I haven’t been able to watch the first episode in the season yet, but I plan to this week once the next new one records Thursday. I’ve been having major Ichabod Crane withdrawals. The boyfriend has long hair and sometimes grows his beard out, so it was to the point that I told him he should start dressing like Ichabod. 😛 Let me just point out how good looking Ichabod Crane is though…

CAN I HAVE HIM, PLEASE?!

Supernatural.
My boys are back tomorrow and I couldn’t be happier! Season ten ended pretty crazy and the trailer for season eleven was SO INTENSE! I can finally stop bugging the boyfriend with telling him how much I miss Supernatural, lol. I’m sure he got annoyed with telling me repeatedly that Sam, Dean, and Castiel would be back.

I’ve had my Supernatural bookmarks to hold me over though 😛
I used Castiel when I was reading Siege and Storm this month.

books

I recently finished HP and the Deathly Hallows and OMG am I glad I finished at home versus at work. I could not stop crying (I cried a couple times at work), especially when Harry named his kids after Snape, Dumbledore, and his parents. GEEZ! I don’t know if I can handle seeing the movie, lol.

I am currently reading The Dead House. I heard so many amazing things about it, but in my opinion, it’s not amazing. In fact, I’m finding it quite boring. I’m halfway through and it’s such a drag so far. I took a break from it to read one of the stories in Slasher Girls & Monster Boys. The first story in Slasher Girls was pretty interesting; I am really excited about the story from Leigh Bardugo though!

I finished the Don’t Stay Up Late audiobook from R.L. Stine yesterday and that was good. It wasn’t fantastic, but it was good. I was looking for some Halloweenish audiobooks to listen to throughout this month as well. I also recently finished Siege and Storm, but honestly, Shadow and Bone was SOOOO much better!

I have some awesome preorders coming today and I am sure a lot of you have these coming! I think these will be the extent of my book buying in October. I will be sharing once I receive them, of course!

life

My dog Dax as you know was really sick, but he seems to be getting better. For a little while we thought he wasn’t getting better, because he wouldn’t eat again. He’s eating now and doing fine. Hopefully he stays okay.

Things have been kind of rough for the boyfriend and I since last month with so many things going on and needing taken care of, like the vet stuff with Dax. Hopefully once we get through October, things will be okay.

September was the first time in a VERY long time that I actually felt kind of defeated. I usually have a positive outlook on everything and I rarely ever let anything bother or affect me. I am putting all the negative things behind me now though, because I don’t want to dwell on any of that! It’s not what I do and I did for longer than I really should have.

Over the weekend I went out for drinks and lunch with my younger sister. We rarely ever do much together as far as hanging out outside of home. It was actually a pretty good time. She’s only a year and a month (I guess I should say 13 months, lol) younger than I am. She’s one of my best friends, even if we don’t talk about things regularly or hangout regularly..don’t tell her I said that though. 😛

I am a beer girl. And the waitress suckered us into getting dessert.

I mentioned in one of my past posts how I ordered some Halloween themed bookmarks to go with my Halloween TBR reads this month and I never posted a picture of them, so here they are! I got these from Craftedvan and HappyHelloArt on Etsy.

Pumpkin, Ghost, and Zombie from Craftedvan.
Sanderson Sisters and Binx (Hocus Pocus) from HappyHelloArt.
Also pictured is a Miss Peregrine’s calendar I received for preordering Library of Souls.

Umm…I think that’s all! I’ll end this post with a couple of other pictures I took. I bug my cat A LOT and I think that’s why he hates me, lol. I also got some cute Halloween decorations recently. SPOOOOOKY! And more pumpkin beer. 🙂

Okay, I am off to work! I hope you guys have an amazing day! I think I may do more posts like this once or twice a month. Let me know what you think about it! BYE! ❤

Tag||Bath & Body Works (Books).

144383549062845

Hey! 🙂

I skipped my usual Friday Finds post yesterday, because I didn’t really find any books to add to my TBR this week. I’ve seen this tag floating around a lot and decided to finally do it. I love Bath & Body Works so much as some of you might already know. My obsession (yes, it really is an obsession) has been non-existent for the last seven months though! I haven’t gone since March, which is strange for me because I was going at least once a week! Crazy, right? I actually truly fear that if I walk into B&BW again that my addiction will start all over again. It’s actually kind of killing me that I can’t pick up the Halloween and Fall stuff right now! BUT ANYWAY…the tag!

PURE PARADISE: A BOOK THAT WAS PURE PERFECTION

pure_paradise18692431

+ Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

I loved every single thing about this book and I always recommend it to everyone now! I plan to do a reread of it now that I have the final copy.

SWEET PEA: A ROMANCE / CONTEMPORARY YOU REALLY ENJOYED

sweetpea15745753

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this book and I had never read a book by Rainbow Rowell before, so I had no idea what to expect. I really enjoyed it so much!

FRESH STRAWBERRIES: A BOOK YOU REALLY ENJOYED THAT CAME OUT THIS YEAR

freshstrawberries18304322

Dumplin’ by July Murphy

Willowdean! I love this book and I love her! It recently came out in September and I read it right away! I flew through it pretty quickly as well.

WARM VANILLA SUGAR: A CHARACTER AND/OR BOOK THAT MADE YOU FEEL ALL WARM AND SMILEY

warmvanillasugar19547856

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

I always choose Simon vs. for questions like this in tags, but honestly, I really can’t help it! This book will have you smiling throughout the entire thing. It’s so cute and I love it so much!

PARIS AMOUR: A COUPLE YOU MAJORLY SHIP TOGETHER

parisamour16096824

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

I majorly ship Feyre and Tamlin! I love them together and I loved this book so much! I am excited to see what happens next and what happens with my ship!

DANCING WATERS: A BOOK THAT TAKES PLACE ON A BEACH/PERFECT BEACH READ

dancingwaters18525657

Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend by Katie Finn

Hands down a great beach read and it takes place on a beach as well. This is one of my favorite reads this year and the sequel is just as amazing! So many shockers in this book and it’s so hard to put down!

I ❤ CAKE: FAVORITE BOOK

iheartcake156427

Psycho by Robert Bloch

Psycho will always be my favorite book. I love this book so much and I flew through it in a day! It’s such a creepy and awesome book. I still haven’t finished the entire movie all the way through, but I may watch it this month since it’s October. Scaryyyyyyyy!

WINTER CANDY APPLE: A BOOK SET AROUND CHRISTMAS OR DURING WINTER

wintercandyapple7741325

Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan

I really enjoyed this book so much and it is set around Christmas time! It was a pretty cute book. I read it back in March, but I think I should saved it for December. I still love this book though!

BEAUTIFUL DAY: A BOOK WITH AN UNUSUAL/INTERESTING/APPEALING SETTING

beautifulday6043848

The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness

I had to include The Knife somewhere in this tag! It’s definitely an unusual book and some pretty interesting things happen in it. The setting is a little strange too. It’s such an amazing book, but warning, it will rip your heart apart a million times over again.

DAZZLING DIAMONDS: GORGEOUS COVER

dazzlingdiamond23719270

Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman

The cover speaks for itself! It’s so amazing and one of my favorite books covers ever! I haven’t had the chance to read it yet, but I think I may in November. I’M STOKED!

These are all mine and these aren’t all of them; only part of the shelves. I also still have tons more that I never put on the shelves and currently in a bag. I think I have about 500 (I haven’t counted again, so could be more). Plus, I have a ridiculous about of body wash and body spray, but not like these. I told you I was obsessed and addicted! I also seen around that they repackaged these, so these are the old packaging and further proof that I’ve controlled my addiction and haven’t gone in so long, haha! 😛

image1 [20605]

I’m not going to tag anyone, because I seen this floating around a lot and I’m sure you probably already have done it if you were interested in it. If you haven’t and you want to do it, then go for it and link me to your posts! I hope you have an awesome weekend and I am off to finish Siege and Storm (a little over 50 pages left) and then start on my first book of my Halloweenie TBR. I’m not sure what the first book will be yet, but I’m going to go attempt to decide! BYE! ❤

Halloweenie TBR.

halloweentbr2

BOO! 🙂

It’s October 1st and that alone is pretty scary! I can’t believe how fast this year has flown by. I love the holidays so much and this year I decided to do a Halloween themed TBR for the month of October. I’m going to be reading some hopefully spooky books throughout the month! I’m not sure if I will get through them all, but hopefully I will. I am really excited about this TBR and have been dying to post it since the beginning of September, lol!

Here is my “Halloweenie” TBR!

Slasher Girls and Monster Boys by Various Authors
Diary of a Haunting by M. Verano
Beyond by Graham McNamee
Asylum by Madeleine Roux
The Girl from the Well by Rin Chupeco
The Hallowed Ones by Laura Bickle
Welcome to the Dark House by Laurie Faria Stolarz

I may try to find a few spooky audiobooks to borrow from my library as well, but I haven’t had the chance to really look for those yet. I can’t wait to get started on these books! I honestly have no clue what I even want to start first! I am thinking I may make a mini TBR jar for this month and randomly draw which ones. I am currently reading Siege and Storm, so as soon as I am finished with that it will be onto my spooky reads!

ghost

I also thought it would be fun to share with you guys the Halloween movies that I watch every single year! I can’t remember the last time I didn’t watch all of these movies in the month of October! I’ve watched them every year since I was a kid and still do. It kind of became a little tradition of mine to watch these four movies every year.

hocus-pocus-posterbeetlejuicecharliebrownhalloweenp21485_d_v8_ab

Hocus Pocus
Beetlejuice
It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Halloweentown
(first one)

I do like to watch the Halloween (Michael Myers) movies and Nightmare on Elm Street as well. But, it wouldn’t be Halloween to me if I didn’t watch these four movies. Childhoods best, for sure! I don’t think I’ve ever missed a year since I was a kid.

Are you going to be reading some spooky books this month? Are there any Halloween movies that you like to watch around this time of the year? Let me know!

In case you missed them, linked below are my September recap and September book haul!

I hope you guys have an awesome first day of October! Bye!
