Hi!

I’m in a total blogging slump and I do NOT like it. I want to blog, but I have no idea what to blog about. I’m thinking of finding one of those book blogging challenges with a new prompt every day, so I can get back into the swing of things on here. Those are always fun and it’ll get me back into blogging. I love it here and all of you guys, so I don’t want to fall off the face of the blogosphere. Even though I haven’t been blogging as much, I have been reading more than I have in awhile and it’s great! Here is what I’ve been reading over the last couple of weeks.

Currently Reading:

everlandfirstlife

Everland by Wendy Spinale
Firstlife by Gena Showalter

I have about 100 pages left of Everland. I had hoped to have it finished by yesterday, so I could get a review up but that ended up not happening. It was released yesterday (May 10), so if you love Peter Pan and you love retellings then you should definitely check it out! I am really enjoying it and I also love this take on Peter Pan. I started Firstlife on Friday, but I didn’t get very far into the audiobook. I haven’t gotten around to continuing it, but I should have it finished this week. I’ll probably start it again today. It sounds interesting, so I am looking forward to it.

Recently Finished:

maybenotgatheringdarknessdemigod

Maybe Not by Colleen Hoover
Gathering Darkness by Morgan Rhodes
The Demigod Diaries by Rick Riordan

I recently finished Maybe Not by Colleen Hoover. I really liked Warren in Maybe Someday, so I wanted to check out the novella. I also want to read anything and everything CoHo writes, so there’s that too. I really enjoyed it and still love Warren, hah. I also finished Gathering Darkness and OMG this series just gets better and better with every book! Falling Kingdoms was only like a 3 star book for me, but I am so glad I continued with the series. It’s getting pretty intense, but holy crap there is so much death as the series goes along. Hah. Lots of action though and I love it. The Demigod Diaries was a really fun read and I loved getting to read more stories about the characters that I’ve grown to love throughout the Heroes of Olympus series.

Reading Next:

frozentidesthewrath

Frozen Tides by Morgan Rhodes
The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

I already read about 70 pages of Frozen Tides, but I’m putting a pause on reading it until after I finish Everland. I love this series though and I am dying to continue this book. I’m not sure what else I will be reading next. I was thinking of listening to the audiobook for The Wrath and the Dawn. I wasn’t a huge fan of it when I read it by myself, but maybe I will appreciate it more by listening to the audiobook. And because I didn’t like it all that much, I don’t remember too much of what happened. I plan to read The Rose and the Dagger soonish, so this may be my next audiobook.

What are you currently reading? Recently finished? Reading next? Let me know and link me to your posts if you have one!

I went to see The Front Bottoms last night! It is definitely one of my favorite concerts now. I’ve been wanting to see them forever now and I love their music so much. So I was stoked that I finally got to see them and it was an amazing show.

Hopefully I’ll have some reviews up on the blog in the next week or so. Off to work for me. I hope you have a great day!

    • I read The Wrath and the Dawn once before, but I didn’t like it too much. I’m hoping to get another perspective of the story with listening to the audiobook.

  1. Sorry to hear you’re in a slump 😦 Hopefully your current reads turn out to be amazing and might help you get out?
I hope Wrath and the Dawn is better second time round. I’m looking forward to picking up The Rose and the Dagger soon, but I have to admit I’m relieved that that’ll be the end of the story. Hopefully duologies are the new trend (more time to read other books!)

    • It’s mostly a blogging slump right now, but hopefully that’ll change! I love blogging too much to ever completely give it up. I hope I like The Wrath and the Dawn the second time around. Maybe listening to the audiobook with also help with all of these name pronunciations. That was a big thing I didn’t like when I read it myself. It was all too complicated and I spent more time trying to figure out names and words than really enjoying the story. SO MANY SERIES these days. I think more standalones and duologies would be nice. I’m actually drowning in all of these series that I started and haven’t finished yet and I’m sure I’m not even remembering a ton of them.

  2. Good luck getting back into blogging! I struggle sometimes and prompts work well. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

  3. Everland sounds so good! I definitely need to get a copy soon… And I’m glad you liked the Maybe Not novella as well; I think I liked it actually better than the last part of Maybe Someday because of Warren haha.

    Happy reading! Here’s my WWW.

    • Everland is a pretty good book. I hope that you can get a copy soon. I hope that I can finish it today. Maybe Not was definitely a good novella. I’m so glad that CoHo wrote a story for Warren.

    • I DNF Firstlife. I listened to the audiobook for four hours (which was almost half of the book) and I was bored the entire time and didn’t like the main character. I don’t know if I will be continuing it. I was on the fence with the book too, which is why I didn’t buy it and went with borrowing the audiobook from the library instead.

    • It’s a book that is inspired by the A Thousand and One Nights story.

      Here is the Goodreads description:

      One Life to One Dawn.

In a land ruled by a murderous boy-king, each dawn brings heartache to a new family. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, is a monster. Each night he takes a new bride only to have a silk cord wrapped around her throat come morning. When sixteen-year-old Shahrzad’s dearest friend falls victim to Khalid, Shahrzad vows vengeance and volunteers to be his next bride. Shahrzad is determined not only to stay alive, but to end the caliph’s reign of terror once and for all.

Night after night, Shahrzad beguiles Khalid, weaving stories that enchant, ensuring her survival, though she knows each dawn could be her last. But something she never expected begins to happen: Khalid is nothing like what she’d imagined him to be. This monster is a boy with a tormented heart. Incredibly, Shahrzad finds herself falling in love. How is this possible? It’s an unforgivable betrayal. Still, Shahrzad has come to understand all is not as it seems in this palace of marble and stone. She resolves to uncover whatever secrets lurk and, despite her love, be ready to take Khalid’s life as retribution for the many lives he’s stolen. Can their love survive this world of stories and secrets?
