Confess by Colleen Hoover
4 out of 5 stars.

“There are people you meet that you get to know, and then there are people you meet that you already know.”

Goodreads description: Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight and there’s no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry. For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover Owen is keeping major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it. The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can’t seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin…

I’ve never read a Colleen Hoover book, but Confess sounded interesting and I decided to give it a chance. At times it was a bit weird to me and I wasn’t sure what to expect from it. I also wasn’t sure where the story was going and I think that’s what made it a little weird at times.

There were a few surprises thrown in, which made it exciting. They weren’t always the greatest (happiest), but it made the story a lot better. I really enjoyed the confessions. There were also times that I was so frustrated with the events going on! Adam’s brother irked me so much and I definitely did not like him at all.

Auburn was a really likable character. I shipped her and Owen so much and the struggles between the too really made me angry. I just wanted them to be together, haha. Owen was definitely one of my favorites! I was rooting for Auburn, because she didn’t have the best life and all she wanted to do was better her life and be a good mom to her son. She made a lot of sacrifices just for her son and choices I was NOT happy about (or she was happy about). You gotta do what ever you can when it comes to your kids though, even if it’s not something you really want to do.

The ending was one of my favorite parts. I love how it all came together. It was a nice surprise too. Overall, it was a bit weird at the start but I loved how it all came together in the end. I really enjoyed this Colleen Hoover book and I am looking forward to reading more books from her. It was a nice change of pace from what I usually read.

Have you read Confess? If so, what did you think?

Feel free to check out my January book haul that I posted over the weekend over here! I’ll probably have my wrap up post coming up in the next few days. Hoping to finish my current read before I post it.

I hope you have a great day! 🙂

  1. There were things about Confess that I really loved (the art, the twists, the real confessions) and things that I thought were okay (the kind of insta-love). Overall, I really liked it. If this is your first CoHo book, you have a lot more really amazing books to read. This one falls in the middle, if I were to choose favorites of hers. Great review!

  2. I really enjoyed Confess, Owen has got to be one of my favorite love interests from CoHo’s books. I loved the art, their entire relationship. I also loved all the little plot twists, I never saw any of them coming.

    • So glad you enjoyed Confess too! I loved Owen so much! I just finished Ugly Love though and I am really liking Miles now! 😛 Yeah, I didn’t see any of the plot twists coming either!
