November Recap||December TBR.

novemberdecembertbr

It kind of feels like November just started, but here we are at the end. I know I sound like a broken record here, but it’s crazy how fast this year flew by. It’s hard to believe that December is almost here! November was a pretty bad month for me as far as reading goes. It was almost non-existent. I actually did not even listen to any audiobooks that I actually finished all the way through! I was in this huge reading slump and that really affected my reading.

Let’s get into the recap! You can find a full list of these books and the other books I read this year over here. All will be linked to Goodreads below and I will also link to individual blog posts for them if I did a review.

DNF (did not finish) Books:
These are the books I started, but did not end up finishing throughout the month of November.

Seeing Redd by Frank Beddor
I got half way through the audiobook, but then decided to not finish it. My mind was just not into it at the time and I had no idea what was going on. I do plan to pick it up again, but I’ll probably read it myself versus doing audiobook again.

Physically Read Books:
These are the books that I read by myself (aka not audio) throughout the month of November.

FABLEHAVENbutter13206760

Fablehaven by Brandon Mull – 3.5 OUT OF 5 STARS – REVIEW.
I borrowed this one from my sister, because she loved the series a lot. I also seen the cover floating around on Goodreads as well. It was enjoyable, but it didn’t blow me away. Check out my review for more!

Butter by Erin Jade Lange – 4 OUT OF 5 STARS – REVIEW.
I enjoyed Butter a lot and even though at times it was hard to read, it was a really well written book. I was rooting for Butter the entire time and I really enjoyed his character. Check out my review for more!

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer – 3 OUT OF 5 STARS
I liked this book, but I didn’t like it better than Cinder. I really enjoyed the new characters Wolf & Thorne, but I was not sold on Scarlet. I could not connect with her. I found it a little difficult to get through her scenes in the book versus the scenes with Cinder. It took me almost the entire month just to finish it, because I was bored the majority of the time.

December TBR:
These are the books that I hope to read in the month of December.

I am not very good at sticking with TBR lists when I make them. I usually just grab what I feel like reading and see what happens. In November I was hoping to finish the Lunar Chronicles series, but with this reading slump I was in, I sadly didn’t not get to do that. Looks like they will be working their way into my December TBR then!

Cress by Marissa Meyer
Fairest by Marissa Meyer
Winter by Marissa Meyer

Some others on my TBR aside from the Lunar Chronicles:

Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin
Not If I See You First by Eric Lindstrom
Firsts by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

The Novl sent me an ARC of Wolf by Wolf, so I want to read it. I know the book is already out there in the world though, but I still would like to read the ARC and put up a review since they were kind of enough to send it to me. They also sent me Not If I See You First, so I want to read that as well and get a review up. Firsts is released the first week of January, so I want to get that read in December and get my review up. If I have any time left over to read more then I will hopefully read Carry On, which I am dying to read!

I am being pretty optimistic here, to be honest. I do really want to read all of these books, so hopefully I can make it happen. I still feel kind of slumpish, which is why I didn’t (and won’t) be finishing Cress this month. I started it on Tuesday, but only read 60 pages since then. I am going to try not to be hard on myself if I don’t read all of these books though. I always feel guilty if I don’t read and that takes the fun out of it!

What did you read in November? What do you plan to read in December? Have you read any of these? Let me know and link me to your recaps and TBRs!

  1. I want to read Wolf by Wolf so badly!! It’s on the list of books I need to buy next month. It sounds so interesting. I hope you get to read Winter and that you love it!! And your right this year has seriously flown by so unbelievably quick, I hate it!! I wish it just went back to being the longest thing ever like when we were little.

    • Wolf by Wolf sounds so good! Hopefully you can get a copy soon! 😀 I need to get out of this reading slump, so I can get through the rest of the Lunar Chronicles! I feel like the reading slump is making me not enjoy it as much as I should be.

      • I’m hoping to pick up a copy this month, but with Christmas presents to buy I may not be able to.
And yeah reading slumps suck! If your not in the mood to read you don’t seem to enjoy anything!

      • I’m almost all done, but I swear buying everyone their gifts is seriously cutting into my book buying. Their so selfish! GOD! 😉

  2. Three books is an okay number for the month! It’s better than not having read anything at all, am I right?! 😊
I hope December gets better in terms of reading and that your slump disappears!

    • Three is definitely better than none! 😀 I just feel so bad when I don’t read a lot, especially since I’ve been buying books like crazy and not reading them. I feel guilty for spending all this money (which I could have used for other things at the time). Blehhh. lol. Life of a bookworm!

  3. That’s a great TBR for December! I hope your reading month goes a little bit better than this month. It’s always sensible to just take a break and not force yourself because reading should be fun and enjoyable! I really loved Carry On btw, so I hope you have time to get to it next month 🙂

  4. Great wrap up! I hope The Lunar Chronicles pick up for you with the next books… Although Fairest probably is my least favorite. I hope you will be able to read Carry On as well; it’s such a great read! 😀

    • Thanks 😀 I only just really started Cress, so not too much has been going on yet. I am hoping that it starts picking up soon. I’m almost at the 100 page mark, so we’ll see! I hope I can get to Carry On as well. I may just read it before some others, lol. Let’s see if I can hold out on it first, haha.

  5. I’m surprised by your thoughts on Scarlet! But I do see what you’re saying about having a hard time connecting to her, for me I think it was just because I had already really loved Cinder. I still enjoyed it, though. I’ve been reading Cress on and off for a couple months now because I just can’t get into it, I don’t know why. So hopefully you enjoy it more than me!

Let me know when you read Wolf by Wolf! I have it too, maybe we can do a buddy read! 🙂

PS; I don’t know if you received my comment last week but for some reason whenever you comment on my blog it goes into my spam folder. So I apologize for any late responses. I don’t know why it’s doing that.

    • There were a few people that told me that Scarlet was the weakest out of the series. I really enjoyed Cinder a lot and I did love her parts in Scarlet a lot more than Scarlet’s parts. Same with me with Cress. I put it aside for now and will pick it up again later in the month.
We can definitely buddy read Wolf by Wolf! I’ll let you know when I’m going to read it and we can figure something out! 🙂
I don’t remember seeing your comment last week. Strange that it goes into your spam folder. I know sometimes I get comments in my spam too that shouldn’t be there.

      • It’s weird because I do love that series. It’s one of my favorites, but at the same time I have a hard time getting through it. It’s probably the different POV like you said. I like Cinder and not a huge fan of others. I think I particularly don’t enjoy the prince’s POV.
Perfect! Let me know because I do want to read it! It’s kind of an odd premise for a book.
& Yeah, about 3 of yours have gone into spam and I always forget to check that. I’m trying to remember to check every day so that delayed responses don’t happen anymore.

  6. I barely managed to get through Seeing Redd. It’s a shame, because I really liked the first book. Cress and Winter were my favorites! Happy reading! 🙂

    • I really liked the first book too. I think because I listened to the audiobook and forgot a lot that happened in the first book, it was harder for me to focus on the second book.

    • My soon can be months from now, haha. I’ve been so on the fence about the Lunar Chronicles. I see that everyone loves the series so much, but I am not really enjoy it as much. Maybe it’s just too much hype for me. I don’t know! I really enjoyed Cinder, not so much Scarlet, and I was currently reading Cress, but decided to take a break from it. Sigh.

      • I thought Cinder looked cool but I haven’t heard much about the others. I’m reading he throne of glass series right now and it’s hard to put it down to read something else

      • I tried to read the Throne of Glass series, but I really didn’t like the first book all that much. I do eventually want to continue with the series and see if it gets better. Everyone says it does, so we’ll see.

      • It does! I really like Sarah J. Maas’s writing style. Sometimes I read it and either think I’ll never be able to be like her or get motivated and strive to be even better haha
