Musing Mondays #1.

Hey! 🙂

I’ve never done this post before, but I decided to try it out this week. See below for details:

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme (hosted by A Daily Rhythm) that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer:

  • I’m currently reading…
  • Up next I think I’ll read…
  • I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
  • I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I can’t wait to get a copy of…
  • I wish I could read ___, but…
  • I blogged about ____ this past week…

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: Do you prefer Hardcover, Trade Paperback, or Mass Market Paperback? Why?

I’m currently reading…

Since I finished Throne of Glass (you can check out my post on it over here), I decided to draw a book from my book jar (bowl). The book that I got was…

I am excited that this was the book drawn, because I’ve been really wanting to read it. I bought it back in March and never got around to it yet.  I can also use this book for one of the Popsugar challenge topics, so that’s cool too. Random: my nails are red too, so it was pretty perfect. 😛 I’ve read a few chapters last night and so far I like it. I can’t really say much about it yet, since I’m only 25 pages in. So far though, it’s fine.

As far as my book jar goes, I decided that I would allow myself to draw a second book IF I am not into the book that I drew first. I will have to read one of the two that were drawn and no other draws. The other will go back into the jar once I finish one of them. I don’t think I will be making a second draw for this time around, because I have a feeling I will really like Red Queen. Hopefully this book jar helps with not buying book as much (maybe 😛 ), get through the books I own, and to help better choose what to read next, because we all know that is a hard decision!

I am also currently listening to Talon by Julie Kagawa as my audiobook at work. I started it the end of last week and so far it’s interesting and I like it.

This week’s random question is: Do you prefer Hardcover, Trade Paperback, or Mass Market Paperback? Why?

This is actually kind of a tough question for me, because I love them all. I guess I prefer hardcover more. I go back and forth between though, because hardcovers are so much more money and I sometimes don’t like to spend the extra money on it. It’s so much easier to read a hardcover though, because you’re not worrying about bending the paperback covers or messing up the spine of the book so much. As far as me buying, if I start a series in hardcover, then I will continue in hardcovers. If I start a series in paperback, then I will continue in paperback. I want everything to match and look the same.

What are you currently reading? Which do you prefer more: hardcover or paperbacks? Link me to your post if you’ve done one or answer in the comments! 🙂

Here are some of my other recent posts in case you missed them and want to check them out!

I hope everyone has a great Monday! Bye! ❤

  1. I like the idea of that book jar….I need to do something to help me choose, since I have so many books unread from 2014! (Purchases).

I love hardcover books (and trade paperbacks); I find my hardcover books on the bargain table at Barnes & Noble, so I can tell myself that I’m saving money…LOL.

    Here is my MUSINGS POST

    • I was buying way more than I was reading! So books kept getting pushed back. I’m hoping this will help with getting around to all of those books! I wish hardcover books weren’t so much more! I would have all my books as hardcovers if I could. Thanks for linking me to your post!

  2. I got given a jar for Christmas and meant to put my book titles in it so your post has reminded me that I really ought to. I like hardcover books but find them quite heavy to read so my favourites are paperbacks although I love my kindle too (for convenience)

    • You should put them in there! I’m glad my posted reminded you to do that. I love reading on Kindle too. It’s definitely more convenient and cheaper too!

  3. The book jar idea seems interesting! I’m thinking of trying it out, but I already have books I know I’m going to pick up next so I’ll make one another time maybe. Anyway, cool meme! I enjoyed reading your answers. 🙂

    • Maybe once you get your next picks finished, you can start the book jar! I never know what to read next and I buy books so much, that they end up getting forgotten. Thanks! 😀

      • Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking of doing. I have the same problem! I’ve bought so many books and there are so many new books I’m finding every day I can’t remember which ones I’ve promised my time to first. it’s getting out of control! 🙂

      • I know all about it getting out of control! I just ordered four more books today! I was originally just going to order my book club book, but ended up getting three others with it! Never-ending struggle!

  4. What a great idea! When I finish one book I usually just look through my piles and pick something that catches my interest, or I read whatever library book is due the soonest–but a book jar would be a great way to read books that just keep getting pushed to the bottom of the pile.

    • I’ve gotten so many books over the last few months that my books are constantly getting pushed back, so I’m hoping this will help me to get around to those. Also, choosing what to read next can always be difficult when you have so many choices!

  5. What a fun post! 🙂

I can definitely relate to your answer regarding the hardcover/paperback; I really dislike when I have a series with different formats. However, I must confess that sometimes I am too impatient to wait for the particular format that I started buying for the series, so I will purchase a different format. It is such a bad habit! Lol!

    • I’m bad about that too, lol. Eventually, I’ll just buy the other format if I catch it on sale or find it in a thrift store though. Just so I can eventually have everything the same. Haha. Same if I start a series on e-book. Chances are I’m going to just get the e-book version.
