A BOOK SET IN THE SUMMER.

Goodreads description: “August Shroeder, a burned-out teacher, has been sober since his 19-year-old son died. Every year he’s spent the summer on the road, but making it to Yellowstone this year means everything. The plan had been to travel there with his son, but now August is making the trip with Philip’s ashes instead. An unexpected twist of fate lands August with two extra passengers for his journey, two half-orphans with nowhere else to go. What none of them could have known was how transformative both the trip and the bonds that develop between them would prove, driving each to create a new destiny together”

Take Me With You by Catherine Ryan Hyde. I loved this book so much (five stars) and I already want to read it again and I literally just finished it 30 minutes ago. I chose this to be my audiobook yesterday/today and it was….

fantastic

Sometimes I go into reading a book like “oh I know I’ll love this book“, but for this one I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about it. I instantly fell in love from the beginning and never looked back. It’s one of those books that you will feel every emotion in just one book (at one point I had to stop listening because I was at work and crying so much – mostly happy tears). I love when a book can do that to you. What I personally got from reading this book was hope, love, and facing your fears. Struggle is real, but if you have the support of people that care about you, it gets you through everything. You can find happiness in the least expecting place.

I’ve mentioned before how I live my life day to day and try not to stress over things and that I am a lot happier for it. This book made me further believe that I am on the right path for my life. I might not live my life like many others do and I might not plan for the future or even for tomorrow, but that’s okay. You’re supposed to sit back and enjoy the ride. There’s no fun in rushing through life to get to your end goal. You miss the bigger picture and the world around you.

“We take all these little calculated risk. All the time. Nine hundred and ninety-nine times out of a thousand nothing goes wrong. And the one time it does, we blame the person who took the risk, tell them they should have known better than to ever do such a thing. Which I’m not saying is wrong, but we know we take risks, too. Maybe we can blame them more because we want to pretend it never could have happened to us. But of course it could have. We make life-and-death decisions every day. The odds are just really good on most of them. But if something goes wrong, we’re still responsible. And we don’t get to do it over, either.”

You can’t always change the bad things that happen in your life or blame the next person, but that’s okay, you just simply move on and it eventually just gets better one way or the other. I love this book for that.

This book also made me really crave a good road trip around the country. I’m not a fan of camping, but this book made me want to go on a summer camping trip, lol. I highly recommend this book to everyone. It is a great read and I am glad I came across it. I’ve come across so many books over the last two months by getting Kindle Unlimited and it has been great.

What is a book that you read that is set in the summer?
